BREAKING: The Denver Nuggets are eyeing a blockbuster trade for a $10.8 million former G League MVP, a move that could shake up the league! Who’s on the way out to make room?

January 11, 2025

The Toronto Raptors difficult season is showing few signs of improvement with the team slipping to 8-30 for the season.

There was no shame in the Toronto Raptors latest defeat to the unstoppable Cleveland Cavaliers, going down 132-126.

But they are now on a four-game losing streak, and ahead of the February 6 trade deadline, it’s very possible the Raptors attempt to flip some assets.

One player generating interest is Raptors forward Chris Boucher, according to Sportsnet.

Denver Nuggets admire Chris Boucher

It is claimed Chris Boucher is on the radar of several teams ahead of the trade deadline, and the Denver Nuggets are one of these teams.

“He certainly has fans within the Nuggets organization,” Sportsnet report.

Chris Boucher is in the final year of his three year deal, earning $10.8m, and it makes sense for the Raptors to see what they can get for him.

Boucher, 31, has only played for two teams across his career so far, after joining the Golden State Warriors as an undrafted rookie in 2017.

The Warriors waived Boucher a year later where he signed for the Toronto Raptors, and has remained ever since.

He spent time in the G-League to aid his development, winning the league’s MVP in 2019 from his performances for the Raptors 905.

Chris Boucher exit would be significant for Toronto Raptors

Denver Nuggets interested in trade for $10.8 million former G League MVP, exit would be significant

Chris Boucher’s departure from the Toronto Raptors would be significant for the team, as it would sign off the end of an era.

Boucher is the final remaining player on the roster from when the Toronto Raptors won the 2019 NBA Championship.

He was the only Canadian player on the Raptors to be part of the title-winning team – although his impact was limited.

Boucher played only two play-off games averaging just two minutes per game – but nonetheless he was on the roster and can claim to have played his part.

The Raptors of 2024/25 are a long way removed from their title success, now one of the weaker teams in the Eastern Conference. Boucher’s exit would further underscore them moving on.

The Denver Nuggets meanwhile are looking to aid their own play-off hopes. They rank fourth in a competitive Western Conference with a 21-15 record, and are just looking to add pieces around Nikola Jokic.

Boucher showed what he was capable of against the Cleveland Cavaliers, putting up 23 points and 12 rebounds in the loss, his second highest scoring game all season following 24 he scored against the Kings in early November.
