BREAKING: Coca-Cola Ends Long-Term Partnership with Taylor Swift: “We Don’t Support Her Endorsement”
Did Coca-Cola tell Taylor Swift, “We are never, ever, ever getting back together” after she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election?
Some social media users claim the beverage company and musical artist fell out.
A Sept. 16 Facebook post styled to look like a news headline said, “Coca-Cola cuts ties with Taylor Swift over Harris endorsement, ‘We don’t support her endorsement.’”
These posts were flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)
Swift posted her endorsement of Harris on Instagram after the Democratic nominee’s Sept. 10 debate with former President Donald Trump in Philadelphia.
The Facebook post linked to an article on an unnamed website that said this endorsement prompted Coca-Cola to end its partnership with Swift because it “clashes with the brand’s values of ‘unity and neutrality.’”
But the source of this claim is a satirical Facebook page called “SpaceX Fanclub.” That page made this claim Sept. 14 and shared the same article, which was first published on a website called Esspots. That site describes itself as a “one-stop destination for satirical news and commentary.”
Swift partnered with Diet Coke in 2013, but we found no news of partnerships in recent years. A Swift spokesperson declined to comment, and Coca-Cola didn’t answer our query before publication.
We rate the claim that “Coca-Cola cuts ties with Taylor Swift over Harris endorsement” False.
