BREAKING: Russell Westbrook Makes Loud Nikola Jokic Statement After Denver Nuggets’ Recent Win
The Denver Nuggets dominated the Atlanta Hawks. Mr. Triple-Double was quite vocal in his words about his teammate after the game.
It can be difficult to find the words to describe Nikola Jokic after his persistent displays of basketball excellence. Wednesday night’s dominant 139-120 victory for the Denver Nuggets over the Atlanta Hawks was yet another showcase of elite play for the three-time MVP.
Jokic finished the game with a triple-double under his belt. The Nuggets superstar posted 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 15 assists in 30 minutes of action.
No one should be surprised by Jokic’s all-around excellence. That aspect of this performance is par for the course. However, there are other angles at which this game is more impressive than some of his others.
According to StatMamba, Jokic became the first player in NBA history to record 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in less than 30 minutes. He also recorded the 7th fastest triple-double in NBA history.
While this performance did not break the latter record, Jokic can rest easy knowing that the fastest triple-double in league history already belongs to him.
For Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook, this game served as a reminder for just how great the Nuggets superstar is. It was a reminder that he was happy to share with the media after the game.
“He’s the best player in the world,” Westbrook told reporters. “My job is to make the game easy for him, and he does it for everybody else. And it’s a pleasure to be able to share the floor with him.”
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder has recently gained some momentum in the race for NBA MVP. The Canadian superstar is likely the biggest threat to Jokic capturing the fourth MVP of his career. Dominant displays like this one will likely alleviate some voter fatigue in that race.
