Fan Who Sold Taylor Swift ‘Rare’ Chiefs Jacket Reveals Why She Priced It at Only $169 (Exclusive)
The fan who sold her Kansas City Chiefs bomber jacket to Taylor Swift is answering fans’ burning questions — and we are so here for it.
TikTok user @courttokslol, who posted on the platform on Nov. 5 that her family had sold her childhood Chiefs varsity jacket on eBay, only to realize it had ended up on Swift at the Nov. 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, came back to the social media platform to answer commenters’ questions about the jacket, selling it and more.
Breaking down the timeline of all of this, Court revealed on TikTok that she and her family had sold the “rare” bomber jacket on eBay back in August.
“We sold it this past August, so it’s definitely cool to see how many months are going into the planning of each of these outfits that she’s wearing,” she said in her latest TikTok, adding that the uniqueness of the jacket certainly upped its appeal factor.
“It’s definitely a rare jacket, so, like, that’s why we even noticed in the first place that she was wearing it, because I think ours was the only one on eBay at the time when we listed it,” she said. “So, it makes sense that if Taylor and her stylist had their eye on this particular piece, they bought it from us. It’s so crazy, and crazy to know they’re looking at these resale sites and awesome that they’re reusing old, vintage pieces.”
Court answered other questions, including what size the jacket is (a men’s small) and why she sold the jacket in the first place (it no longer fit and she’s in the process of moving).
She and her family aren’t new to the eBay selling game, either, but this is certainly the first time the longtime Chiefs fans have found one of their items in the hands of a celebrity — but Court is hoping it isn’t the last.
“We have a few other Chiefs items listed and you better believe we’ll be watching for Taylor’s stylist’s name every time we sell one!” she tells PEOPLE exclusively. She also joked that a few commenters told her on TikTok that she should have sold the jacket for a higher price rather than the $169 it went for, but, she says, “obviously when we listed we had no idea who would be buying it.”
In her original video, Court — who was appropriately wearing Swift’s merch — said she’s a “longtime Swiftie” and couldn’t believe it when she saw the Grammy winner wearing a jacket that looked suspiciously like one she and her family had recently sold on eBay. But she knew the one they sold hadn’t gone to a buyer named “Taylor Swift.”
She said that her dad eventually confirmed that they sold the jacket and sent it out to California from Kansas City — and when she looked up the buyer’s name, it matched up with Swift’s stylist.
